Subject: Adopt Resolution authorizing the County of Lake Water Resources Director to apply for, accept, and execute two State General Fund grants, administered by the California Natural Resources Agency: 1) to conduct lake-wide Limnological water quality sampling in Clear Lake and 2) to conduct an assessment to understand public perception attitudes, and knowledge gaps towards water quality to improve education, outreach, and scientific communication within the communities around Clear Lake.

Executive Summary:

Staff is requesting the Board of Supervisors, acting as the Directors of the Lake County Watershed Protection District, authorize the Water Resources Director to apply for, accept and execute two grants funded by the State General Funds and administered by the CA Natural Resources Agency. This item is not expected to be controversial; therefore we are requesting this item to be placed on the Consent Agenda.

These projects were approved for funding by the Blue Ribbon Committee for the Rehabilitation of Clear Lake but the Board has to approve the project information before contracts and agreements can be finalized by the State. These two projects will provide for the continued water quality monitoring in Clear Lake and provide more insights into how the public perceives water quality issues impacting Clear Lake so managers can improve and enhance outreach and education efforts regarding water quality.

Attached for your reference are the two project information packets (Attachment A & B) that are being submitted to the CA Natural Resources Agency to complete the project agreements and contracts.
